Current research
I recently completed my PhD in Sport Sciences at Waseda University, Japan. Building on my doctoral research on community sport policy in China—which examined national policy development, local implementation processes, and community members’ responses—my current research continues to explore community sport development through the combined lenses of sport management and public policy.
In addition, I maintain a strong research interest in the social impacts and legacies of sport events. My completed and ongoing projects have examined a range of major and community-based sporting events, including the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Guizhou Village Super League, and the Wuhan Marathon.
Looking ahead, my research will increasingly focus on older adults’ sport participation, active ageing, and the role of community sport in promoting health, well-being, and social inclusion among ageing populations.
