Location: The Exchange (Assembly Room, 2F) 3 Centenary Square Birmingham B1 2DR
We are pleased to invite you to an event hosted by the University of Birmingham, Birmingham Race Impact Group, and Sport Birmingham, with funding from the British Academy. The event, "Sports Infrastructure, Race and Values: Knowledge Exchange event," is scheduled for Tuesday, 10th September 2024, from 10am to 4pm at The Exchange, Assembly Room (2F), 3 Centenary Square, Birmingham B1 2DR.
This event is a continuation of our efforts from the 2022 sports-themed Race Equality event and aims to gather practitioners, community leaders, policymakers, and sports organisations to address crucial topics in sports infrastructure and race equality.
Key highlights of the event include:
• The launch of the Sports Dashboard funded by the British Academy
• A review of Birmingham’s sports infrastructure and discussions on race equality led by BRIG
• An introduction of the Sports Position Statement by Sport Birmingham
• A discussion on racial disparity and sports opportunities led by Sporting Equals
• A forward-looking roundtable to explore ways to enhance the current sports infrastructure to better serve ethnic minorities
Your perspective and experience are invaluable to this discussion, and your participation will be instrumental in driving meaningful change. Your insights will help us determine effective strategies to enhance sport participation and access across diverse population backgrounds, ensuring that our efforts are both inclusive and impactful.
We hope you will join us in making sport and physical activity more inclusive and accessible for everyone in Birmingham.
